Following on from the successful introduction of meals provided on team nights, Stephen Byars, our excellent new Chef and I have agreed to extend his working nights. Stephen brings to ASRC a wealth of experience having worked in the industry for twelve years in many different restaurants. He has just returned from New Zealand and is keener than ever to get back in the kitchen and do what he does best.
Please see below for times the kitchen is open for service. A menu is currently being made up which will feature snacks, starters, mains and sweets available on a permament basis. There will also be a Daily Specials Board offering something a little different to keep things interesting. These boards, for your information, can be found up in the Bar and in the Changing Rooms.
Monday - 5.00 to 10.00pm
Tuesday - 5.00 to 10.00pm
Wednesday - 5.00 to 8.00pm
Thursday - 5.00 to 10.00pm
Friday - 5.00 to 8.00pm
Saturday - 4.00 to 8.00pm
Sunday - 1.00 to 5.00pm
Further to this Stephen will be offering Christmas dinners every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from November 27th right through to the week of Christmas. Prices can be found on the Notice Boards, with all kids eating at half the price. Advanced booking is recommended. In addition to this Stephen will also take on all function bookings, offering a choice of eight different menus and thus catering for all.
Please get yourself up into the Bar, support our new Chef and truly enjoy what Stephen serves up. I guarantee you will NOT be disappointed.

| 11 Nov 2009 | LADIES TRAINING |
|
*** NEW TIME ***
WEDNESDAY 6PM - 7PM ***
Ladies,
Following a successful free six week trial of Ladies Training, I am pleased to announce that these sessions will continue to run. The sessions will remain on a Wednesday evening from 7.00 to 8.00pm, being conducted either by myself or Assistant Club Coach, Gavin Sutherland. The free six week period is as I say over however at just £2 a session it should not really break the bank balance. Please remember these sessions are open to all female members of the Club. The main goals are to:
- Improve everyones game
- Install belief and confidence in everyone
- Familiarize everyone with all rules of the game
- Meet, greet and socialize
I look forward to seeing you all.

| 16 Nov 2009 | CIRCUIT TRAINING |
|
Monday - 18.00-18.30
Tuesday - 12.30-13.00
Thursday - 12.30-13.00
*** only £3.00 per session ***
Circuit Training is not only a great way to improve your general fitness, it is specific to squash meaning a regular session of just thirty minutes a week will do wonders for your game. The more sessions you attend the more benefit you will receive, obviously.
Sessions will incorporate a number of different exercises and will be accompanied by music. Ask those who attended sessions last season just how much fun can be had whilst pushing your body to its limits.
Whether you are looking to move up the Mini-Leagues, get into a team, beat a regular sparring partner, or even just shed a few pounds and improve your overall physique, then circuit training is for you. Everyone is welcome so please come along and give it a go!

| 03 Dec 2009 | SCOTTISH SPORTS AWARDS |
|
*** LAST CHANCE TO GET YOUR TICKET. LET ME KNOW BY CLOSE OF BUSINESS ON THUR 26TH NOV ***
A word from the Event Manager:
Firstly let me start by introducing myself as the event manager for the 2009 Sunday Mail & sportscotland Scottish Sports Awards. This is a highly prestigious awards ceremony which recognises sporting achievements throughout 2009. I am very pleased to inform you that the Aberdeen Squash Racquets Club has been selected as one of the 3 finalists for the Team of the Year. I would therefore like to invite the group to attend the Black Tie Awards ceremony which will take place on Thursday 3rd December at the Glasgow Hilton hotel, and will certainly be an evening that you will all enjoy.
After rather passively filling out a nomination form for our Club I thought that would be the last of it, but it appears not! We have been given three free tickets for the event but I would quite like to take up a table of ten for the night at a total cost of £1,000. See below for the format for what looks to be a very special evening.
Event Format
6.30pm Champagne Reception & Games
Various sports based games will be within the reception area for guests to enjoy throughout the evening
7.00pm Guests take their seats
7.15pm Introductions
From evening host, Bruce Waddell Editor in Chief of the Sunday Mail and Louise Martin, Chair of sportscotland
7.30pm Dinner is served

9.20pm Awards ceremony part 1
Winners of the first 6 awards are announced
9.50pm Audience Quiz
Willie Young will once again return to entertain guests with an interactive sports quiz
10.30pm Awards ceremony part 2
Winners of the remaining 5 awards are announced
11.00pm Formalities conclude
1.00am Bar closes
I am opening up this offer to anyone who is interested and willing to pay £100 for a seat at ASRCs very own table. I have yet to see the full list of nominees but have been told that the likes of Chris Hoy and Alex Ferguson will be in attendance. The plan would likely be to take the train down on the Thursday afternoon (back on the Friday morning) and stay over at the Hilton on the Thursday night. I have to have this information to the Event Manger by no later than Friday 19th November so please do not hang about. The first ten to put their name up AND pay will go. Simple as. Get yourself signed up on the Notice Board within the Club.
NOTE: The Club will book hotel rooms and train tickets and invoice each person accordingly

| 11 Dec 2009 | CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS - CLOSING DATE |
|
2009 ASRC CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
Mon 28th Dec Thur 31st Dec
The 2009 ASRC Club Championships will take place over a four-day spell during that awkward downtime between Christmas and New Year. Play will be conducted on the evenings of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and during the day on Thursday, prior to everyones Hogmanay celebrations.
The events are open to ALL PLAYING members. Draws will take the form of a simple knockout draw with NO plates being held. In the event of a small number of entries into a certain event, a round robin will take place. Courts will be booked off by the Club and times posted beside each match. These are the match times and are not flexible in anyway. In the event of any draw exceeding thirty-two entries play may start on Sunday 27th.
Closing date for all events is Friday 11th December. All draws will be posted on the main Notice Board on Monday 14th December.
The Club Championships are more than just about finding the best players in the Club. They are for anyone looking to play more matches and against different opposition than you might be used to. For those very simple reasons, get your name up on the relevant entry sheets found on the main Notice Board.
NOTE:
The Age Group events, along with the 99 Doubles, will take place in their now regular slot in April.
